Visit with Bobby

We decided to visit Bobby since he's only a 6 hour drive from Scottsdale, and I haven't seen them in 5 ? years. Joe couldn't go, had to go to Atlanta this weekend and pick up some equipment , we had fun, Joey and Garret were instant buds and when we were at the house they played guns and dressup (joey of course was batman and Garret was a star wars droid). We went to the San Diego zoo, and the beach. Here are the pics (Garret 7, Tyler 14, Joey 3.5, Christina 2 (almost)).

trip to the ER with Joey

We had a scare with Joey - Joe came home from work and was eating cashews out of a can. We were all getting ready to go upstairs for bed and Joey said he wanted some so Joe gave him 2 or 3. He had never had them before , and within a minute of eating the cashews, Joey started crying and saying his tounge hurt, he had his mouth open and we offered him something to drink, some ice, but he was unconsolable. I thought maybe he had bitten his tounge. We waited and he started drooling, a lot and nothing was getting better. We left the house in 5 minutes and drove to Paradise Valley ER which is right around the corner from the rental home we are staying in. They were so good, we had a bed immediately, they put an IV in Joey's arm in case they needed to give him anything, gave him an IV of saline, and a breathing treatment (he had also said his chest hurt and was a little short of breath, his face was flushed, and by the time we got him to the ER his shirt was soaked from his drooling). He also appeared to go in and out of consciosness on the way to the ER. The doctors/nurses said it could be allergies, a toxin, or scorpion bite. They transported him by ambulance to Phoenix Children's hospital, Joe rode in the ambulance and I followed with Christina. They kept him there for 6 hours to observe him, they said sometimes the symptoms can reappear but he would be in the clear after 6 hours. They gave us a prescription for a steriod and an epipen. So now we go for allergy testing, a 2 hour process that I'm sure will not be fun..I'm glad my little guy is ok now.

Here they are sleeping together

McCormick Stillman Railroad park in Scottsdale

I took the kids to the McCormick railroad park, which is a public park in Scottsdale, complete with two playgrounds (one is old west style, with a bank and a jail), a train you can buy tickets for and ride on, a train museum, and a carousel. (and an ice cream stand). very fun.

Here are the kids playing in the backyard

Grand Canyon

Pictures from our Grand Canyon trip. We wanted to take Emily, it was fun but a little hectic trying to keep Joey and Christina from running off and falling into the canyon. There are guardrails but really not a place for little kids.
We left on a Saturday morning, drove thru Flagstaff and Sedona, stayed the night and drove back Sunday. Emily and Joey spent the time in the car taking pictures of each other
